Kathy and Matt Buccieri opened Buccieri’s GEMS & JEWELRY on November 11, 2005 to provide customers with a comfortable and knowledgeable environment to shop for a beautiful assortment of jewelry and gift items. Furthermore, they were both committed to becoming a contributing part of the community and have taken great pleasure in sponsoring various teams on the Jefferson Recreation Department, donating to various fund-raising events in and near the Oak Ridge area, conducting fundraisers for Jewelers for Children, collecting gifts for a local battered women’s shelter and much more. “We both feel it is our responsibility and honor to help take care of the community that has helped to make our business a success,” Kathy recently said.

Prior to opening Buccieri’s GEMS & JEWELRY, Kathy and Matt both worked for Tiffany & Co. for almost a decade. Kathy held several positions in the Service Awards Department and Matt worked in both the Quality Assurance Department and the Gemstone Acquisition Department.

It was in the Quality Assurance Department that Matt honed in on his ability to evaluate gemstones and jewelry assuring that the highest of standards were met. Upon being promoted to Manager of the Colored Stone Buying Department at Tiffany’s, Matt was able to travel the world seeking out the finest and most rare gemstones the industry had to offer. He also had the opportunity to visit some of the world’s most modern gemstone cutting facilities in Germany and Thailand where he was able to witness rare gemstones being transformed into the beautiful finished gemstones we see and enjoy in today’s marketplace.

After graduating from the prestigious Gemological Institute of America over twelve years ago, Matt has continued to attend many seminars and major trade shows around the world. Most recently, he had the opportunity to study at the Swiss Gemological Laboratory in Basal Switzerland, earning a certificate in the Determination of Gemstone Origin.

Upon reaching their two year anniversary at Buccieri’s GEMS & JEWELRY, Matt and Kathy continue striving to provide their customers with a beautiful and unique selection of jewelry.
